Day 1 - Let's give this a shot

Today, on my way into work, I passed by a bridal dress shop and thought to myself, why am I not taking this as serious as I thought I would? I always thought that when I got engaged, I would run to the gym and never get off the treadmill. However, I'm realizing that the man who proposed to me loves me for me and that the motivation to kick my own butt hasn't hit me yet and I wish it would!

I've been going to gym since February of 2008 and while it has been a year of seeing a great increase in endurance and health, I haven't seen any weight loss. The time has come. I have a little over one year to make a difference. I've always wanted to be back to the weight I was in college, but let's face it, being 30 doesn't help, being social in the city doesn't help and generally making poor decisions on food and activity doesn't help. I'm going to start saying 'no' and I'm going to see how far that gets me. Loosing weight is an internal battle for me. I usually decide to go for the more fattening item on a menu or choose to have a snack that may not be the right choice. I'm admitting to my errors and I'm making a change. It won't be easy, but will get easier over time. Here we go...

1) I said 'no' to driving to work and decided to walk 6 blocks to the bus.
2) I said 'no' to coffee at work and filled up my giant water jug instead.
3) I said 'no' to chips/fries and got the wrap alone at lunch (thanks Erin!)
4) I said 'no' to caffeine when the server offered soda and chose water.
5) I said 'no' to the vending machine as I walked by it to print something.
6) I said 'no' to taking the bus home and biked to club instead.
7) I said 'no' to chocolate cake at choir rehearsal during our break.
